Bienvenides. An exorcism is a liberatory ritual.
Traditionally, it freed the body from possession. It is practiced by many people and religions: Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jews, Muslims, Sikhs. For us, exorcism is a metaphor and an act: resistance and a higher calling.
Exorcism = Liberation is the namesake of this public art project. It offers a different kind of campaign than the election we are in the middle of. It is a counter action. A counter proposal. An intervention. We want to connect, challenge, spark conversation, contemplate, move and provoke change.
This is a public project for mutual liberation. Listen and get stronger with us. We recommend using headphones. It sounds better.
LEARN + ACT
For each audio in this project, we offer one entry point to learn and act. Our focus is Puerto Rico. With Exorcism = Liberation, we are sharing resources and information about the U.S.’s 125+ year colonial relationship to Puerto Rico.
